filmmusic made in switzerland

It sounds paradoxical: Film music is frequently neglected compared to other music genres; nevertheless, interest in it is great – even, and in particular, in Switzerland with its small and multilingual film scene. Besides leading towards structural aspects, central players and events of the Swiss film music scene, swissmusic.net aims to discuss the diversity and special aspects of film music – particularly in Switzerland – via a collection of essays.

An essay on the history and situation of film music in Switzerland by Mathias Spohr introduces the theme and makes reference to the further publications selected for this compilation. The history link leads to three historical texts with a reference to film music in Switzerland. The contemporary witnesses link allows three composers from various generations (from around 1930, 1950 and 1970 respectively), who have influenced Swiss film music history, to have their say.
